Private Palazzetto, San Marco (Venice)

The intervention began with the assembly of cantilevered scaffolding secured with internal tensioning systems. Subsequently, the complete demolition of the facade plaster allowed for a detailed analysis of the underlying masonry. The facade was secured using advanced techniques, including the installation of stainless-steel tensioning and carbon fibre banding. Additionally, internal consolidation was carried out using PBO fibre mesh, integrated with structural plaster, to ensure the stability of the structure. To further improve stability, a ground floor slab was reinforced with a concrete casting using high-strength stainless steel. This intervention ensured that the building's base was robust and resistant to future stresses. The plaster reconstruction followed a careful three-step process: applying a salt-resistant undercoat to protect the masonry, applying a coloured body plaster to unify the surface, and finally, adding a coloured finishing coat to give a refined and uniform appearance to the facade. This complex and detailed intervention addressed the structural issues and preserved the palazzetto’s integrity and historical beauty in the heart of San Marco, ensuring safety and durability over time.
