Warehouse remediation, Cannaregio (Venice)

The initial phase involved cleaning and demolishing the interior structures of the historic warehouses, creating space for new works. A detailed survey campaign was conducted to assess the foundations in each of the 11 rooms of the building, along with a thorough inspection of the truss heads in the various roof slopes. During the analysis, an ancient concrete cistern was discovered, which required a specialized restoration and removal operation. This intervention allowed for the recovery and enhancement of a historic space, transforming it into a unique exhibition venue where private artworks can be appreciated in a striking and authentic context. The restoration of the warehouse in Cannaregio is an example of how it is possible to renew and repurpose historical structures while maintaining their essence and contributing to Venice’s art culture.
